The Dangote refinery will roll out its free fuel distribution programme on Monday.
According to a statement by Dangote Group spokesman, Anthony Chiejina, the initiative will begin from the South-West, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as well as Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States.
“We are starting the free fuel distribution scheme on Monday. We will start with Lagos and the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers and Edo States. There will be a drop in price effective on Monday when the free distribution starts,” the firm stated.
He further noted that petrol pump prices have been reduced to N841 per litre in Lagos and the South-West, while Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta States will see prices at N851 per litre.
It will be recalled that the scheme was initially slated to commence in August but was pushed back due to logistics delays in China. Our correspondent confirmed that more than 1,000 trucks have now been delivered to the refinery in preparation for the launch.
Additional states are expected to benefit as further truck consignments arrive in the country. In a recent update, Dangote disclosed that it had initiated a large-scale roll-out of CNG-powered trucks aimed at strengthening logistics and reducing costs across Nigeria’s distribution chain.
“Even though we recently noticed how the CNG prices doubled a week ago, that will not deter our 10,000 CNG truck roll-out this year,” the company said.
