JAMB Takes Over Collection Of Registration Fee From CBT Centres To End Extortion

If you have already written UTME or plan to, one crucial step you cannot afford to skip is uploading your WAEC or NECO result on the JAMB portal. Many candidates fail to upload correctly or delay the process, which could cost them admission even with high UTME scores.

Another common mistake is failing to upload O’Level results early enough when applying for admission.

In this guide, you’ll learn exactly how to upload your WAEC/NECO results on the JAMB portal, the right time to do it, and why it’s so important.

When Should You Upload Your O’Level Results on JAMB Portal?

After completing your JAMB registration and receiving your UTME result, the next step is uploading your O’Level result, whether WAEC, NECO, or its equivalent. This step allows your chosen institution to verify your full qualifications.

This process isn’t exclusive to UTME candidates. Direct Entry applicants must also upload their O’Level results while completing their registration. Without uploading these results, you risk missing admission even if you meet every other criterion.

You should upload as soon as your WAEC or NECO results are released. Delaying this step is one of the most common and costly errors students make.

How To Upload Your WAEC/NECO on JAMB Portal

There are two simple ways to upload your results: through the official JAMB E-facility portal or by visiting a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. Both options are approved and effective.

You will need a clear digital or printed copy of your result, your JAMB registration number, and a small fee if you’re using a CBT centre. Avoid using cyber cafes for this process.

Ensure your document is clear and properly scanned before submission. Follow these steps carefully:

Through the JAMB E-portal:

  • Visit efacility.jamb.gov.ng and log in using your JAMB registration number and password.
  • On your dashboard, click on “Check Admission Status” to access the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
  • Look for the option to upload your O’Level results within this section.
  • Select your exam type (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, etc.) and exam year from the dropdown menu.
  • Upload a clear JPEG or PNG file of your result (under 50KB) and submit.
  • Double-check your uploaded details before submission. A blurry or incorrect result can ruin your admission chances.

Through a JAMB-Accredited CBT Centre or JAMB Office:

  • Visit a JAMB-accredited CBT centre (not a cyber cafe) with your result.
  • Provide your JAMB registration number and a clear copy of your O’Level result.
  • Request assistance from the staff to upload your result.
  • After uploading, ask for a printout or screenshot as proof.

This option is ideal if you’re less comfortable navigating the portal yourself or want extra assurance.

How To Check If Your O’Level Results Are Uploaded on the JAMB Portal

Always confirm that your result upload was successful to avoid unpleasant surprises later.

  • Log on to efacility.jamb.gov.ng with your email and password.
  • Click on “Check Admission Status” on your dashboard.
  • Select “Access My CAPS”.
  • Inside CAPS, go to “My O’Level Result”.
  • If your subjects and grades are displayed, your upload was successful.
  • If it shows “AR” (Awaiting Result) or appears blank, your upload failed, and you must re-upload immediately to remain eligible for admission.

Factors to Consider When Uploading WAEC/NECO Results on JAMB Portal

  • Timeliness: Upload your results as soon as they’re released. Schools begin screening quickly, and delays may affect your eligibility.
  • Awaiting Result Candidates: If you registered with AR status, upload your results immediately once released. It’s mandatory for consideration.
  • Combining Results: If you’re combining WAEC and NECO, upload both—provided your institution accepts combined results.
  • Corrections & Reuploads: Mistakes can be fixed by re-uploading at a CBT centre, but aim to get it right the first time to avoid processing delays.

Conclusion

Uploading your WAEC or NECO result is not just a formality—it is essential for securing admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions. Even with high UTME scores, skipping this step could cost you your admission.

Take action immediately. Log in online or visit a CBT centre, upload your results, and confirm them. Once uploaded, you can proceed to register for your school of choice without delay.
