According to her, the incident involved a 25kg gas cylinder in a mini shop that housed five similar cylinders.

The shop, where the fire was said to have erupted, was located within a bungalow comprising 15 self-contained rooms and seven other shops.

She explained the fire erupted following gas leakage from mishandling of products which attracted a nearby flame and triggered an explosion.

She said the resultant fire was extinguished and remains of the gas cylinders were evacuated to return normalcy to the area.

The fire chief said 15 individuals suffered burn injuries while confirming that no lives were lost and none of the injuries were life-threatening.

She added that some of the victims were administered first aid while were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

“It is however pertinent to state that none of the cases are life threatening,” she said.

Adeseye disclosed that the fire was quelled by combined efforts of firefighters from the Sari Iganmu fire station and personnel of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).
