Tensions have erupted as Aisha Yesufu and David Hundeyin, who are two prominent supporters of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party engaged in heated argument over allegations of ‘USAid fraud’ in Nigeria.

David Hundeyin, an investigative journalist recently released a report seemingly exposed the USAID illegal activities; money laundering, terrorism sponsoring and how they removed ex-Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan .

He claimed that USAID paid the sum of $3.3M to the “Nigeria” just four days before Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president, of which there had been news of Trump’s intentions to shut the USAID down.

David also claimed that between 2020 and 2025, the USAID had sent $48M to DAI Globall LLC in Maryland, but they were all recorded as payments.

While check revealed that the DAI is a Non Governmental Organasation (NGO) focusing on climate change. Hundeyin in his finding said they are more of a money laundering front or a CIA front, per Hundeyin.

And between January 20th, and today now. The USAID has sent $799,000 to Nigeria. Of course it didn’t get there. Most of the funds were narrated “Undisclosed” or “Miscellaneous”.

It would be recall that Trump banned payments on 28 January, 2025, but the USAID still disbursed $466,000 to “Nigeria” in eight different tranches.

All of these have been corroborated by Trump’s ally, Elon Musk, who has openly called the institution a criminal organization who openly fund terrorism and do not deny it. Elon Musk insists the USAID has lived enough, time to sunset.

Futhermore, David alleged that thorugh DAI Globall LLC, the USAID/State Department sponsored #BillBackOurGirls campaign in order to topple the government of Jonathan’s in 2015.

He named Aisha Yesufu, Yemi Adamolekun, and many others who were #BillBackOurGirls campaigner as being part of the ‘criminal’ organisation.

“One day when the US-funded NGO gravy train in Abuja is only a memory, the likes of Adamolekun, Yesufu, etc will come out by themselves and tell us the true story of that 2014-15 USAID/State Department movie production called “#BringBackOurGirls.”

“They will confess by themselves,” David added

Aisha Yesufu response

However, Aisha Yesufu responding to the allegation blasted Hundeyin, saying he’s a psychologically challenged investigative journalist and dared him make public all the investigations he has done on her.

“David Hundeyin @DavidHundeyin if you are who you say you are and born of who you say you are born of, I quadruple dare you to make public all the investigations you have done on me!

You are a psychologically challenged investigative journalist who has no honour and will not publish the TRUTH when it does not confirm your bias!,” she said.

In another tweet, Aisha Yesufu called Hundeyin an evil fraud, who only need validation of gullible people.

She said; “David Hundeyin has been an evil fraud for a long time who needs the validation of you people . It is only a matter of time! Was Segalink not yesterday’s hero inspite of all his atrocities during Jonathan and beyond?
Imagine someone constantly telling you that he is the only one on the right side of history 😴.

“Do I look like I am dragging history with anyone? Do I look like I want to be on the right side of anybody’s history today?

“The Nigerians that will occupy this space in 100 years are what interest me not already captured citizens who will do anything to deodorize failed rulers.”

Obidients, others react

Meanwhile, the ongoing cold war between the two has sparked mixed reactions. While some see it as a setback for the Obidient movement (supporters of Peter Obi), potentially undermining their ability to challenge and defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), others argue that this development exposes a lack of genuine commitment among activists to the struggles of the common man

Frederick Omoyoma Odorige with username @FOdorige said; “I don’t know why David had to go after Aisha this way. If you have scores to settle with a fellow activist, it is better to call attention to it one on one. It pains me when activists attack themselves in public. It makes no sense. It diminishes our strength and makes us lose focus from our collective goals of pursuing the liberation of our country from the hands of political vampires. Even the vampires always end up settling themselves.

“Now, the vampires are happy because our elephants are at war with themselves. Now the grasses are suffering. I respectfully urge both of you to slow down and sheathe your swords. The vampires are already re-grouping and we must refuse to be silenced. We count on you.🙏”

@TheLordMayker wrote; “Meaningless discussions are just taking place. How do we collectively pull down APC structure of criminality? That should be the center of every public discourse now, and in the foreseeable future. Anybody that achieves that will be fondly remembered in Nigerian history.”

@blossommartins reacted; “Dear Aisha, with all due respect, calling David an “evil fraud” is unfair.

“He has been one of the strongest assets in the Obidient movement, just as you have. Both of you have contributed immensely, and reducing this to personal attacks doesn’t help the cause.

“David simply pointed out your involvement in the 2015 elections. The best approach would have been to acknowledge that moment in history and the role you naively played, rather than reacting defensively. No one is above critique, and accountability strengthens leadership.

“I deeply respect you, but I sometimes wish your responses were less emotional and more issue-based.
We all want a better Nigeria, and unity among those fighting for the same goal is crucial.”

@mindshiftorg wrote; “😂😂😂 wonders shall never end. What a day to be alive. So you know David publishes lies and you have been supporting him all these while, misleading your innocent followers to trust him. Alhaja, Anobi o fe bayiii. Awuu..”

Backstory

The #BringBackOurGirls campaign played a significant role in Nigeria’s 2015 presidential election, influencing public perception of both Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

In April 2014, Boko Haram abducted 276 schoolgirls from Chibok, sparking global outrage. The Goodluck Jonathan administration faced heavy criticism for its slow response and perceived inaction, which damaged his credibility. Activists like Aisha Yesufu and Oby Ezekwesili led the #BringBackOurGirls movement, pressuring the government to act.

Muhammadu Buhari, running against Jonathan in 2015, capitalized on the security failures, promising to defeat Boko Haram and rescue the girls. Public frustration over insecurity, corruption, and economic struggles contributed to Jonathan’s electoral defeat, making him the first Nigerian incumbent president to lose re-election.

The #BringBackOurGirls campaign became a symbol of government failure, influencing voter sentiment and shaping the outcome of the 2015 election
