JUST IN: Does Tinubu Appoints Odumosu as New EFCC Boss?, Fact Emerges

Before leaving Nigeria for France yesterday, President Bola Tinubu reportedly appointed AIG Hakeem Odumosu to the position of acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

However, iDeemlawful gathered that this information has since been denied by AIG Hakeem Odumosu.

Odumosu asserted that he was unaware of the appointment and that he had not spoken with the president prior to leaving.

He characterized the spread of the fictitious appointment as an unnecessary diversion by troublemakers.

He said: “Good morning everyone. Between yesterday and today, I’ve received calls and messages regarding an alleged “EFCC Appointment.”

“I just want to take this chance to refute this information and declare that it is entirely false. “You should completely disregard this information, which must have come from Mischief Makers. ”.

Earlier report has it that the former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has come under fire over his reported appointment as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Odumosu, who retired as an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) was reported to have replaced Abdulrasheed Bawa who was recently suspended by President Bola Tinubu over allegations of gross abuse of office.

The report however suggest the appointment is yet to be officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have taken to social media to condemn the reported appointment of Odumosu as the new boss of the anti-graft agency following his role in the EndSARS riot in Lagos.

Some netizens said while he was the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, he was behind the arrest and prosecution of protesters, while others alleged that he ordered the shooting of protesters.
