The police have arrested a 34-year-old man who tried to set fire on a mosque in the German city of Dresden.
According to the police spokesperson, on the night of Tuesday, May 9, 2023, a man sprayed gasoline in front of the mosque and tried to set fire to the building.
Witnesses called emergency services after seeing a man pouring petrol outside the parked mosque.
The 34-year-old man has been arrested and is being investigated by police for attempted arson.
Although his motives were initially unclear, the same suspect reportedly set fire to a Quran at a mosque in the month of April.
In another situation, Patrick Brown, a man from Louisiana in the southeastern United States, was released after serving 29 years in prison for alleged rape.
It is understood that the 49-year-old was accused of a rape he did not commit in 1994 and wrongly sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Brown was accused of raping his then 6-year-old stepdaughter, a crime he never committed.
In its report, The Guardian revealed that sexual assault survivors had not testified at Brown’s trial since 2002.
She is said to have repeatedly called for a trial to prove that Brown was not her real attacker.
However, the case was kept secret and was only re-investigated in recent years
