Mr. AbdurRazaq Tope Balogun, the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), has expressed shock over the recent fire incident that razed some shops at the Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, as well as the train accident involving a fully loaded Lagos State Government staff bus. In a statement, he commiserated with the affected victims and their families.
While certain accidents are unforeseen, Balogun emphasised the need to put measures in place to prevent such occurrences through proper safety and precautions. He also called for the restoration of security of lives and property, and the establishment of mechanisms to avert accidents on our roads.
Balogun appreciated the first responders to both incidents and called for calm among residents to avoid political insinuations and accusations. He urged security and safety agencies to investigate the cause of the incidents.
Additionally, he prayed for the quick recovery of those wounded in the train accident and urged the government to cushion the effect of the loss for the spare part dealers. Balogun previously advocated for fire stations to be proximate to neighbourhoods to have rapid responses before fire incidents get out of control.
