2027: Kwara ‘Otoge’ Leaders birth New Political Group

A new political group, Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM), has emerged in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Report confirmed that the group is populated by proponents of the ‘Otoge’ political force that birthed the present administration in the state.

They explained that the new movement is necessitated by lack of equity, justice and fairness in governance and distribution of amenities across the state.

Speaking during the launch on Sunday, one of its conveners, Iyiola Oyedepo, described the initiative as a socio-political movement that cut across parties.

He said the group will galvanise the electorate for the right leadership come 2027.

According to him, the current leaders have failed the state and had not provided the right direction for good governance.

The movement, he noted, did not produce the envisaged results claiming that the beneficiaries bastardised the vision of the revolution.

“You may be curious that most of the champions of ‘Otoge’ revolution are here today. The truth is that we erected the pillars of that movement that metamorphosize into the present administration.

“The inheritors of the gains of the revolution may not have shared our vision of quality departure from the past. With the unintended outcome of that struggle, we can say that ‘Otoge’ can be said to be a revolution aborted and a dream bastardised”, he added.

He lamented that the people were not allowed to contribute and participate in the governance of the state with a lack of equitable distribution of amenities.

Oyedepo said: “The KRM is not a political party but only a vehicle to sensitise and mobilise the people in the state for the right leadership in the next election.

“You will agree with me that the time is ripe for the emergence of a new generation of political helmsmen that must lead this state to an era where people will be encouraged to contribute to the common pot of soup that will be fairly served.”

He said members were drawn from various political parties who are dissatisfied with the present political situation in Kwara State.

He said the movement comprised academicians, politicians, members of the civil society organisations and professionals among others who desire to provide a difference in the governance of the state.

Oyedepo enjoined the electorates to join the movement to ensure equity participation and distribution of amenities in the state

Several calls and a text message made to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Special Adviser on Political Communications, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, on Sunday seeking reaction to the development were not answered or replied.

On her part, the commissioner for communication, Bola Olukoju, requested a text message to respond.

She was however yet to do so before this report was filed on Sunday evening.
