New Naira Notes: We May Push For Your Arrest, Gbajabiamila Warns Emefiele

Lawmakers in the Green House of the National Assembly are bracing for a stormy plenary following allegations that the leadership of the House of Representatives may have breached its rules of procedure.

Peoples Gazette has learned that more than 100 dissatisfied members of the House of Representatives have signed a statement of impeachment, which will be handed over to the speaker when the plenary session resumes on Tuesday.

Lawmakers have vowed to raise the issue in parliament to immediately withdraw the allegedly forged and altered documents.

The learned standing rules, which a reporter referred to as the 10th version, reportedly included a new, strange and unpleasant provision that the speaker and deputies should be elected by popular vote, not since 1999.

Section 2 (f) (iii) of the controversial clause captioned, “election of presiding officers,” stated that “every member voting shall name clearly and in the open the candidate of his choice.”

A senior House official who spoke to a news source on condition of anonymity said: “Yes, I can confirm that the redactions have been made and the documents have been printed. But I want to tell you that even as a senior House official, I do not know about the doing of this. The House of Representatives has not yet formally adopted such changes. “

Furthermore, another member of the House told the media: “This is very strange in our traditional process of electing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, which has always elected the Speaker and Deputy Speaker through a secret ballot system.

“For the last four years, we have never discussed a change to our rules in this regard, and this is certainly someone who is trying to beat Parliament. I assure you that we will get to the bottom of the matter immediately before the House finds itself in an embarrassing situation.”

The leadership led by Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has been accused of single-handedly manipulating the rules of the house to force out more credible candidates in favor of his chosen candidate, Hon Abbas Tadudeen. Here are some reference documents:
